BEIRUT / BAGHDEDE, Iraq — On Monday, the Syriac Catholic Patriarch Mor Ignatius Joseph III Younan sent a letter to Archbishop of Baghdad Mor Ephrem Youssef, Patriarchal Administrator of the Diocese of Mosul and its Dependencies and Secretary of the Holy Synod, on the 12th anniversary of the suicide attack on the Church of Our Lady of Deliverance in Baghdad.

The Patriarch expressed pride in the blood of the martyrs who sacrificed for their faith on the altar of martyrdom and baptized the homeland with their pure blood. He pointed out that they have become a symbol to the world of indistinguishable love and the Christian calling to spread peace, justice, brotherhood, and equality.

On Monday, a memorial evening was held at Ma Pauls House for Church Services in Nineveh Plains. Entitled “The Blood of Martyrs, the Seed of Life”, the memorial was held in the presence of a number of Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people and Mr. Imad Salem Jajo, General Director of the Syriac Study in the Ministry of Education.

The evening included poems in Syriac and Arabic and a photo reportage of the painful incident and testimonies from the families of the martyrs.
