ATHENS — During his recent visit to Greece, Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East Mor Awa III Royel, accompanied by a delegation of metropolitans and priests, met with government officials and members of the Greek Parliament in Athens.
The Patriarch met with immigration official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs John Chrysolakis and the Secretary of the Orthodox National Assembly in the Greek Parliament, Maximos Sarakopoulos.
The Patriarch also met with Deputy Minister of Education and Religious Education Angelo Sergius. During the meeting, he discussed the situation of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian—Chaldean) people immigrating from Turkey, Lebanon, and Jordan.
While the Patriarch expressed to the officials the needs of the Syriac (Aramean—Assyrian—Chaldean) people in Greece and the need to protect the community in Greece.
