Syriac Union Party issues statement condemning Turkish airstrikes

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The Syriac Union Party (SUP) issued a statement condemning the Turkish attacks against the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria which led to the martyrdom and injury of civilians, media professionals, and military personnel. It stressed its full support for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and all security forces within it and called on the international community to intervene to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe.

The SUP called on the international community, especially the US-led International Coalition, to intervene to stop Turkey’s aggression, which undermines the stability of the region. Any new war by Turkey on the region will bring with it many woes for civilians, as happened previously, said the statement.

Policies of the Justice and Development Party (AKP)-led government in Ankara are a threat to the whole region and the world through its support for extremist military factions, including factions operating in northwestern Syria listed as terrorist organizations in the US and EU.

“We demand that Turkey be held internationally and legally accountable for its actions,” read the statement.
