Syriac Women’s Union in Syria condemns the Arab and international silence on the Turkish attacks
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — In a statement, the Syriac Women’s Union (SWU) in Syria denounced the Turkish attacks on the regions of North and East Syria that have killed dozens and caused widespread damage to infrastructure, including hospitals, electrical facilities, and oil refineries. The SWU called on the international community to end Turkey’s crimes against humanity.
“The Arab and international world should take the necessary steps to stop the Turkish attacks on the ethnic groups of North and East Syria,” read the SWU statement, indicating that the Turkish attacks contribute to the expansion of the Islamic State (ISIS), the revival of its sleeper cells, and its reorganization.
The SWU statement held the United Nations, the UN Security Council, and the Arab League responsible for the Turkish violations and Turkish disregard for international resolutions as they have done little to nothing to punish Turkey for its routine violations.
