Women’s Union in Iraq holds a lecture on International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women
ANKAWA, IRAQ — On Wednesday, the Women’s Union in Ankawa in Iraq held a lecture on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Woman, under the title “Stop Violence against Women.”
The event was attended by Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian women from various regions of Nineveh Plain and Ankawa.
The lecture began with a welcoming speech. Then, speech of the Women’s Union in Iraq was delivered by the union head Ronak Sobo, who spoke about the importance of this day and awareness about danger of violence against women and society as a whole.
The speech was followed by an introductory video on violence against women, its forms and causes, as well as the proposed solutions. Then, Hana Qasha recited poems about women.
After that, the lecture was delivered by professor Jumana al-Qarawi.
In conclusion, the door was opened for discussion and the inquiries were answered by the lecturer.
