Popular demonstrations against Turkish attacks across Gozarto Region in North and East Syria
GOZARTO REGION, Syria — Denouncing the continuous Turkish attacks on North and East Syria, several demonstrations were organized across Gozarto (Jazira) Region in North and East Syria.
Syriacs (Arameans–Assyrians–Chaldeans), Arabs, and Kurds from various religious and political backgrounds participated in the demonstrations.
Hundreds of residents of Zalin (Qamishli) demonstrated from the main roundabout, raising pictures of martyrs and banners with phrases denouncing Turkey’s targeting of civilians and public infrastructure, including “Our Regions are Safe and Do Not Need Your Terrorism”, “Down with Butcher Erdoğan”, and “Long Live the Resistance of Peoples”.
The demonstration included a minute of silence in honor of the souls of martyrs. Co-Chair of the Zalin Canton Council Afram Ishaq then delivered a speech on behalf of the demonstration in which he stressed the peoples’ insistence on defending their lands alongside the military forces.
“The strength of the region’s ethnic groups stems from their solidarity with the region’s military forces,” said Ishak, praising the sacrifices made by the military forces in order for the region to enjoy security and safety.
Dayrik (Malikiyah) and the towns of Mabada and Tel Brak also witnessed demonstrations calling for an end to the Turkish attacks on the region.
Several speeches emphasizing the unity of the people and their support for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the face of Turkish aggression were delivered.
The demonstrators chanted slogans saluting the SDF resistance, denouncing the Turkish attacks, and calling for the international community to intervene and prevent a humanitarian catastrophe.
