Over three dozen male and female Syriac Orthodox deacons ordained in Mor Jirjis Cathedral in Hasakah, North and East Syria
HASAKAH, Syria — Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Gozarto (Jazira) and Euphrates Mor Maurice Amsih ordained 23 men and 16 women as deacons in Mor (Saint) Jirjis Cathedral in Hasakah, North and East Syria.
The ordination took place in the presence of the parish priests, Father Antonius al-Hinno and Father Gabriel Khajo, and a large gathering of believers.
During the Divine Liturgy, Archbishop Amsih delivered a sermon calling on the newly ordained deacons to follow the teachings of the Lord Jesus, live a life in accordance with the Lord’s will, be committed to the Church, and persevere in prayer.
After the sermon, the archbishop performed the ordination rituals amid a spiritual and joyful atmosphere.
