Christmas market opens in Daramsuq, Christmas recital held in Hasakah, Syria
DARAMSUQ / HASAKAH, Syria — On 20 December 2022, Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II inaugurated this year’s Christmas market in the Garden of Syriac Martyrs in Daramsuq (Damascus), Syria.
At the market opening, the Saint Aphrem Patriarchal Syriac Scouts performed Christmas songs and the Saint Aphrem Patriarchal Choir performed Syriac hymns and folk songs.
In related news, on Tuesday, the Religious Education Center of the Syriac Orthodox Church in Hasakah held a recital titled “My Heart is a Cave of Jesus” in the yard of Al-Amal Kindergarten.
The event was attended by Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Gozarto (Jazira) and Euphrates Mor Maurice Amsih, members of the clergy, and a large gathering of Syriacs.
The recital included Christmas hymns and a speech by the Archbishop. He thanked the choir for its outstanding performance and wished everyone happy holidays and a new year full of goodness and peace.
