Syriac Union Party meets with delegations from political parties in North and East Syria

ZALIN, Syria ꟷ On Wednesday, as a part of ongoing efforts to strengthening relations between the various political parties of North and East Syria, the Syriac Union Party (SUP) received a delegation from the Relations Office of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) at its headquarters in Zalin (Qamishli).

The PYD delegation consisted of Relations Office Co-Chair Arifa Bakr and members of the political bureau Adnan Farman and Luqman Abdullah. 

The delegation was received by Co-Chair of the Syriac Union Party (SUP) Sanharib Barsom, member of the SUP Executive Body Rubel Baho, and member of the Party Council Gabi Shimon.

At the outset of the meeting, the delegation offered congratulations on the occasion of the Christmas and New Year holidays. The two parties then discussed the latest political developments in Syria and the wider region, stressing the importance of unity between all components of Syria. The peoples of North and East Syria must stand together in the face of existing challenges and dangers, especially the continued Turkish threats to invade the region, they said.

Regarding national political developments, the two parties agreed on the importance of achieving a political solution to the decade-long civil war.

The visit concluded with the two parties stressing the importance and continuation of joint meetings.



On Thursday, a delegation from the SUP visited the headquarters of the Kurdish National Council (ENKS).

The delegation consisted of Co-Chair Barsom, member of the Executive Body Afram Ishak, and member of the Party Council Gabi Shimon.

They were received by members of the ENKS Presidential body, Muhammad Ismail, Nemat Daoud, Faisal Yusef, and Suleiman Oso

At the outset of the visit, the SUP delegation offered its congratulations on the convening of the Kurdish National Council and wished it continued success.

The two sides discussed the issues and developments taking place in Syria and the region. and Syria in general at all levels. They stressed the importance of the relationship between all ethnic and religious components and the dedication to coexistence. The parties also agreed on the need to reach a national political solution that meets the requirements of all Syrians.
