Iraqi politicians extend New Year congratulations to Christians of Iraq

ERBIL, BAGHDAD —  Iraqi political officials extended their New Year congratulations to the Christians of Iraq and the world.

On Christmas and New Year, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Bafel Jalal Talabani, sent a written congratulatory letter to the Beth Nahrin Patriotic Union in Iraq (Huyodo Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA), wishing them health, happiness, and success in the new year. He renewed his intention of joint action at all levels, in the interest of Iraq.

Talabani participated in a mass New Year’s celebration in Salem Street in Sulaymaniyah.

Leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, congratulated Christians of the world in general and Christians of Iraq in particular, on New Year. Via Twitter, Al-Sadr wished them peace and security in their beloved country, Iraq.
