Kevin Enkido Yakob allowed to play for Iraqi national team after FIFA approval

AARHUS, Denmark – Syriac football player Kevin Enkido Yakob will be allowed to play for the Iraqi national team starting today. The FIFA has accepted the Iraqi Football Association’s request after a long application period.

Sweden-born Kevin Enkido Yakob (22) plays in Denmark’s highest football league for AGF Aarhus since August 2022. His parents originate from Mosul, Iraq. Yakob played in his professional football career for Sweden’s BK Häcken (2018-21) and IFK Gothenburg (2021-22).

On January 19, 2023, the Iraqi national football team won the Arabian Gul Cup with a 3-2 win over Oman.
