ERB’ILO/ERBIL, Iraq – The Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian civil activist and blogger Sylvana Dilshad has been arrested by the Erbil police, a security source reported to news agency Shafaq News.
The source told Shafaq News on Saturday; “The activist is now detained in the women’s correctional prison in Erbil after she was arrested 2 days ago.” He added that; “The police in Erbil had asked the activist several times to report for questioning, but she did not show up.”
The Iraqi Women Rights Organization on Twitter said that it has learned from security sources that the reason for the arrest could be that the police suspects her of the misuse of social media-permitted communication devices.
