Head of Independent International Commission on Syria sends message of solidarity to Administration of North and East Syria

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — In light of the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the devastating series of earthquakes that have resulted in a staggering loss of life, as well as the destruction of infrastructure and homes, the Independent International Commission on Syria expresses its full solidarity with the humanitarian situation.

The head of the Commission, Paulo Pinheiro, sent a telegram of condolence to the Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North East Syria, expressing his solidarity with the injured and the families of those who lost their lives in the earthquakes.

In the letter, Pinheiro stated, “My colleagues, Commissioner Hani Megally and Commissioner Lynn Welchman, and I offer our deepest condolences to the victims of the devastating earthquakes that have struck Syria. We extend our sympathy to those who were injured and to the families of those who lost their loved ones as rescuers work tirelessly to save the lives of survivors. In these difficult moments, we stand in solidarity with the Syrian people.”
