IRAQ: Christians of Habbaniyah hold prayers in church destroyed by Islamic State
HABBANIYAH/ANBAR, Iraq — About 100 former Christian residents of the city of Habbaniyah in the Anbar Governorate of Iraq, held prayers and hymns in one of their destroyed churches, after years of abandonment due to terrorism of the Islamic State.
They met with their former friends and neighbors and recalled their memories in Habbaniyah city, which they had to leave.
Many regions in Iraq, including Habbaniyah, were subjected to terrorism and destruction after Islamic State took control of the area in 2014. It forced the Christian inhabitants to flee those areas and settle into safer areas.
