IRAQ: Director General of Syriac Study visits new Syriac Catholic Archbishop in Baghdede; Directorate to hold exhibition on Syriac calligraphy
BAGHDEDE, NINEVEH PLAINS, Iraq — The Director General of Syriac Study in Iraq, Imad Jajo, visited the new Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Mosul and its Environs, Mor Benedict Younan Hanno. Jajo congratulated Mor Younan Hanno on his new ordination, wishing him success in the service of the Church.
They also discussed ways of cooperation between the Directorate and the Syriac Catholic Church with regard to education in the Syriac language and Christian catechism.
In different news, Jajo also held a meeting yesterday in the Bashiqa Education Bureau. The meeting was attended by the head of the Directorate of Syriac Study’s department in the Nineveh Governorate Education Office, Riyad Tawfiq, and officials of the Syriac Study departments in Tel kaif (Tel Keppe), Baghdede, and Bashiqa.
They discussed the preparations for the upcoming exhibitions of paintings and Syriac calligraphy organized by the Directorate of Syriac Study on 15 March in Baghdede. They determined the number of participating schools and selected the members of the jury.
