Holy Synod of Antioch holds its 15th session in Balamand, Lebanon 

BALAMAND, Lebanon — The Holy Synod of Antioch of the Syriac Melkite Orthodox held its 15th session in Balamand, Lebanon, under the chairmanship of Syriac Melkite Orthodox Patriarch Mor John X Yazigi. 

The session began with spiritual prayers and covered important topics such as the effects of the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria, the situation of parishes in Alexandretta (İskenderun), Holeb (Aleppo), Lattakia, and Hemto (Hama), and the efforts made by the Church to support those affected. 

The session also reviewed the situation of the Diocese of New York and North America and heard the reports of the Patriarchal Commissioner, Archbishop Anthony of Souri, Metropolitan of Zahle and Baalbek, and Patriarchal Vicar, Archbishop Antonios al-Souri of Zahle, Baalbek, and its Environs. 

In a previous session, Archbishop Saba Esber of Bosra Hauran and Jabal al-Arab had been elected as the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of New York and North America.
