On International Mother Language Day, General Directorate of Syriac Study in Baghdad celebrates Syriac language  

BAGHDAD — On 26 February 2023, the General Directorate of Syriac Study in Baghdad hosted a celebration to mark International Mother Language Day. The event took place at the Iraq Educational Channel Hall in the Educational Complex in Baghdad and was overseen by Director General Imad Jajo.

The celebration was attended by Assistant Director General Anne Andrawos, Director of Supervision and Training Affairs Florence Behnam, Director of Syriac Study Department of Baghdad al-Rusafa II Education Senar Mazen, as well as other officials and employees of the Directorate.

Director General Jajo delivered a speech during the event extending congratulations to the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people, Syriac cultural institutions, and all those who have a passion for the Syriac language. He expressed his pride in the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people and their mother language, emphasizing the General Directorate’s relentless efforts to spread and teach Syriac.

The celebration included speeches, congratulations, poetry readings, and video presentations about the Syriac language, in the Syriac language.
