Syriac Union Party Co-Chair Nazira Goreya meets with female party members on sidelines at annual party conference
QABRE HEWORE, Syria — Co-Chair of the Syriac Union Party (SUP) Nazira Goreya met with female members of the party from various regions in North and East Syria, including Dayrik (Al-Malikiyah), Qabre Hewore (Al-Qahtaniyah), Beth Zalin (Qamishli), and Hasakah on the sidelines of the party’s annual conference in Qabre Hewore.
During the meeting, Goreya congratulated the women on International Women’s Day and commended the significant contributions made by Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) women in assuming important positions in the institutions of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
Goreya also provided an in-depth analysis of the latest political developments in the region, including the visit of Nadine Maenza, President of International Religious Freedom Secretariat and former Chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), to the region. She highlighted the meetings that Maenza held with the SUP and various institutions of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) in Syria and Maenza’s emphasis on the important role of Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) women in developing democracy and social equality.
Goreya further discussed the meetings she held during her travels to different countries, where she spoke with officials about the situation of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people and the importance of preserving their presence in the East.
She also listened to the opinions of SUP members on the development of work, the challenges they face, and ways to overcome them. The meeting was an important opportunity for the female leadership and membership of the party to discuss various issues and plan for the future.
