President of International Religious Freedom Secretariat Nadine Maenza congratulates Syriac people on the New Year, Akitu 6773

WASHIGNTON, D.C. — Nadine Maenza, President of the International Religious Freedom Secretariat and former Chair of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), recently visited North and East Syria, demonstrating her continued interest in issues concerning the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people. During her visit, she met with representatives of institutions and parties of the Bethnahrain National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB).

On the occasion of the Syriac–Assyrian Babylonian New Year, Akitu 6773, Maenza conveyed her heartfelt congratulations to the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people, particularly those residing in Syria and Iraq, via Twitter. She extended her greetings in four languages: Syriac, Arabic, English, and Turkish.

Happy Akitu to my Syriac–Assyrian–Chaldean friends celebrating the New Year in Iraq, Syria, and throughout the world!
