US-led Coalition targeted by rocket attack in North and East Syria, retaliates against pro-Iranian factions

DAYRO ZCURO, Syria — On Monday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that the forces of the US-led International Coalition had been targeted by a rocket attack.

“An ineffective rocket attack targeted Coalition forces at Mission Support Site, Conoco, northeast Syria,” CENTCOM stated, indicating that the attack did not cause any casualties or damage to the US base or coalition property.

Earlier, the defenses of the US-led International Coalition, stationed at a US base in the Conoco gas field in Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor), shot down a drone that most likely belonged to Iranian-backed factions.

In retaliation, the Coalition targeted areas of Hatla and Khasham in the northeast of Dayro Zcuro.

The region is witnessing a wide-ranging confrontation between the two sides following the death of a US contractor in a suicide drone attack carried out by Iranian-backed militias.
