Syriac Orthodox Patriarch leads Easter delegation to strengthen relationships between Churches
BETH NAHRIN — To celebrate Easter — according to the Western, or Gregorian, calendar — and strengthen relationships between Churches, Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II led a delegation of metropolitans and priests to visit the heads and representatives of several Churches.
The delegation included Malkite Catholic Patriarch Mor Youssef Absi, Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Damascus Mor Youhanna Jihad Battah, and Armenian Orthodox Archbishop of Damascus Armash Nalbandian.
During the visits, Patriarch Aphrem extended Easter congratulations and prayed that the holiday brings peace and goodness to the whole world.
In other news, Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid and Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa’ al-Sudani also congratulated the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people and other Christians in Iraq and around the world, on the occasion of Easter. They expressed their hope that this occasion would promote cohesion, brotherhood, and coexistence among the Iraqi people.
