US-led International Coalition captures 3 ISIS members in eastern Syria in joint-operation with SDF and counterterrorism forces of Kurdistan region

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — On Wednesday, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced a successful joint-operation between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and a counterterrorism group from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), supported by the US-led International Coalition against ISIS. The operation resulted in the capture of three members of the Islamic State (ISIS) in eastern Syria on Saturday evening.

According to CENTCOM, the capture of Hudaydah al Yemeni, an ISIS attack facilitator, and two of his associates, will disrupt the militant group’s ability to orchestrate and conduct operations. No civilians were harmed during the operation. Specific details about the location of the capture were not disclosed.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that the operation was supported by helicopters from the US-led Coalition. This successful operation comes after the US military declared that it had killed a senior ISIS leader in Syria, Khaled Ahmed al-Jubouri, responsible for planning ISIS attacks in Europe and Turkey and developing the organization’s leadership structure in Turkey.

The joint-effort against ISIS highlights the continued commitment of the US-led coalition to dismantle the terrorist group and its affiliates. It also demonstrates the effectiveness of cooperation between different groups in the fight against terrorism, with the aim of achieving stability in the region.
