Salahaddin University inaugurates Syriac language library, promoting cultural diversity and knowledge dissemination
ERBIL — On Tuesday, Salahaddin University in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), proudly inaugurated the Professor Dr. Yousef Matti Qawzi Syriac Language Library, marking a significant milestone for the institution.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by numerous local officials, Syriac studies experts, distinguished guests such as member of the Kurdistan Region Parliament MP Farouk Hana Atto, Secretary General of the Beth Nahrin Democratic Party Romeo Hakkari, Minister of Transport and Communications in the Kurdistan Regional Government Ano Abdoka, and Mayor of Ankawa District Rami Nuri. The event also saw the participation of a prominent members of the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian community residing in Erbil and Ankawa.
The newly established library houses an impressive collection of 1,200 books, serving as a valuable resource for professors, students of the Syriac Language Department, as well as researchers from both within and outside the university. Its primary aim is to promote the dissemination of knowledge and academic research.
During the event, several speeches highlighted the library’s pivotal role in fostering cultural and human diversity, emphasizing its significance as a cornerstone of intellectual development.
