BEIRUT — In an interview with Lebanese journalist Walid Abboud on the Lebanese channel Sawt Beirut International (SBI), President of the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP) Ibrahim Mrad discussed various Lebanese issues and outlined the party’s vision for a solution to its many crises.
Mrad emphasized that federalism has evolved into a national and popular demand, which the USUP has been advocating for years.
He further expressed that federalism or expanded administrative decentralization can be implemented in Lebanon due to the current situation being divided into unofficial federations.
“To ensure the rights of Christians and other ethnic groups, we must eliminate the central system that has only brought woes and internal problems to Christians and the Lebanese people in general,” he asserted.
Mrad also addressed the crimes committed by Hezbollah against Lebanon and called for an end to Iranian control in the country.
