Syrian Democratic Forces announce arrest of two Turkish intelligence agents operating in North and East Syria

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the arrests of two Turkish intelligence agents operating in North and East Syria on Thursday.

According to the SDF Media Center, two Turkish agents were apprehended while attempting to gather sensitive information about security and military forces, institutions of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), as well as SDF leaders. These agents had accepted monetary compensation in exchange for the classified information.

The SDF revealed that Elias Muhammad al-Rahil and Hamid Khalil al-Ahmad, the arrested agents, have confessed to various crimes, including the transmission of information that led to the deaths of fighters, leaders, and officials within the institutions.

Upon completion of the investigations, the SDF center promptly handed the two individuals over to the judiciary for further legal proceedings.
