Universal Syriac Union Party delegation meets Lebanese Minister of Interior to address regional developments and Syrian refugee issue

BEIRUT — A delegation from the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP) in Lebanon, headed by USUP President Ibrahim Mrad, met with the Lebanese Minister of Interior Ziad Mawlawi to discuss political and security developments in the region, as well as the issue of Syrian refugees in Lebanon.

Mrad was accompanied by USUP Vice President Laila Latte, USUP Secretary of Legal Affairs Wadih Nasr, and USUP Secretary of Internal Affairs Joseph Hajjar.

The meeting also focused on the Ministry’s decisions to conduct a comprehensive survey of the displaced population and explore ways to effectively manage their presence across all regions. The aim is to alleviate tensions and find practical solutions to the challenges faced by the Lebanese people, who have borne the burden of this predicament.

During the meeting, Mrad expressed the party’s readiness to collaborate with the Ministry on this matter and others. He commended Minister Mawlawi for his professional approach, exemplifying qualities of a statesman through his work in the ministry. Mrad emphasized that officials like him offer hope and serve as a positive force in the pursuit of solutions.
