Syriac Maronite Patriarch Al-Rai delegated Archbishop Paul Abdel Sater to meet with Hezbollah Secretary General

BETH KERKE, Lebanon — The Media Office of the Patriarchal Edifice in Beth Kerke (Bkerke) issued a statement, indicating that the Syriac Maronite Patriarch Mor Bechara Butros al-Rai had delegated Syriac Maronite Archbishop of Beirut Paul (Bolus) Abdel Sater to meet Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah.

The statement indicated that this meeting comes within the consultations that Al-Rai had initiated with all Lebanese parties on the presidential file in Lebanon.

Al-Manar website affiliated with the Hezbollah militia reported that the patriarchal envoy heard from Nasrallah his continued support for nominating head of the Marada Movement former minister Suleiman Franjieh.

Recently, the Christian parties in Lebanon agreed on nominating Jihad Azour for the presidency of the republic.

Al-Rai efforts came as a response to the calls of both Paris and the Vatican, regarding the need for the Patriarch to meet with all Lebanese parties to resolve the presidential vacuum issue.
