Syriac Catholic Patriarch Younan meets with Archbishop of Assyrian Church of the East of Baghdad Archdiocese Mor Elia Isaac and Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Beirut Archdiocese Mor Daniel Gawriye
BEIRUT — On Monday, Syriac Catholic Patriarch Mor Ignatius Youssef III Younan received Archbishop of the Assyrian Church of the East of Baghdad Archdiocese Mor Elia Isaac and Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Beirut Archdiocese Mor Daniel Gawriye, at the Patriarchal Residence in Beirut, Lebanon.
The two sides discussed the good fraternal relations between these three churches, and the importance of cooperation between them for the benefit of the churches and believers.
The general situation in the countries of the Middle East, particularly in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq, was discussed. The crises reflection on the Christians of those countries, including emigration was also touched on. The importance of the Church taking actual steps to stand by Christians, amid these crises was stressed.
They also reviewed ecumenical affairs, including the work of the Coordination Committee for meeting of the Patriarchs of Syriac Heritage Churches and joint activities for the coming period.
