Syriac Union Party denounces recent Turkish attack targeting Zalin Canton officials in North and East Syria
ZALIN, Syria — After the martyrdom of two officials of Zalin (Qamishli) Canton in North and East Syria and their driver, as well as the injury of Zalin Canton Co-Chair Gabriel Chamoun, in a Turkish drone attack, the Syriac Union Party (SUP) issued a public statement condemning the Turkish government’s continued campaign of violence.
The SUP stated that the Turkish government continues its aggressive policies towards the people of North and East Syria and does not hesitate to target civilians and officials of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) through its drones.
The SUP offered its condolences to the families of the martyrs, stressing the importance of the struggle against the Turkish occupation and its policies of aggression.
The party stressed the importance of a strong will and ethnic and religious unity of all peoples of the region, as well as supporting the military and security forces, until victory is achieved over all hostile forces.
The SUP also stressed the importance of the international community’s intervention to pressure Turkey into abiding by the armistice agreements signed with the US and Russia.
The SUP concluded its statement by wishing a speedy recovery for the injured and mercy and eternity for the righteous martyrs.
