U.S. calls on all parties to calm tensions in Syria
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The recent Turkish escalation caused the martyrdom of three members of the Zalin (Qamishli) Canton’s Council, including Co-Chair Yusra Darwish, Deputy Co-Chair Laiman Shwesh, and member of the Council Furat Tuma, as well as the injury of Zalin (Qamishli) Canton’s Council Co-Chair Gabriel Chamoun.
The U.S. State Department stated that it would stand against any military action that destabilizes the situation in Syria.
The U.S. State Department also described the current escalation in Syria, especially on the Turkish-Syrian border, as dangerous and threatening the safety of civilians.
It indicated that the U.S. urges all parties to immediately de-escalate tensions.
