Opposition leader Hassan Abdel Azim welcomes the Syrian Democratic Council initiative to expand Syrian opposition front

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — In an interview with UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the General Coordinator of the National Coordination Commission for Democratic Change (NCC) Hassan Abdel Azim welcomed the improvement of relations between the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) and the NCC and welcomed the SDC efforts regarding the agreements to unify the Syrian opposition.

He pointed out that this step opens new horizons for working with the SDC and confirms its seriousness in taking new steps with the NCC to expand the opposition front and strengthen its presence, in addition to dialogue with all Syrians and Syrian forces, including the National Coalition of Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces (SNC).

Abdel Azim also commended the statements of the SDC Co-Chair Riyad Darrar regarding the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria’s (AANES) readiness to cooperate with the NCC Commission to find solutions to the Syrian crisis. He stressed the need to enhance opportunities for a political solution and political transition to build a unified Syria in cooperation with various democratic forces.

Last June, the NCC and the SDC signed a document of understanding in order to unify the steps and vision of the two parties to solve the Syrian crisis.
