Culture Authority in North and East Syria explores solutions to promote cultural development and preserve archaeological sites

RAQQA, Syria —  In the presence of Deputy Co-Chair of the Executive Council in North and East Syria Gabriel Chamoun and Co-Chair of Culture Bodies and Committees of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), the AANES’s Culture Authority held its monthly meeting yesterday in Raqqa.

The meeting commenced with an overview of the current organizational landscape and the key challenges faced by culture bodies and committees. Emphasis was placed on finding effective solutions to enhance the cultural field at the regional level.

Several significant outcomes emerged from the meeting, notably the focus on developing the antiquities sector and implementing measures to protect archaeological sites. Additionally, the compilation of legal texts for the formulation of a comprehensive tourism and culture law, tailored to the unique circumstances of the AANES, was addressed.

By actively addressing these matters, the Culture Authority aims to further bolster the cultural landscape and promote sustainable development in North and East Syria.
