U.S. Consul in Erbil visits the Syriac Heritage Museum in Ankawa, Iraq

ANKAWA, Iraq — On Thursday, the U.S. Consul General in Erbil Irvin Hicks Jr. visited the Syriac Heritage Museum in Ankawa, Iraq.

He was received by General Director of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq Kaldo Ramzi Oganna and director of the Syriac Heritage Museum Bernard Youssef.

Hicks toured the Museum’s departments and commended the exhibits, especially the historical mural completed within the project to preserve the cultural heritage of minorities in Iraq, with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Antiquities Coalition.

Hicks expressed his interest and appreciation for the role played by the Syriac Heritage Museum. He wrote a speech in the Museum Visits Record, in which he showed his admiration for the museum.
