Ancient Church of the East Archbishop of Hadiab Mor Shimun Daniel meets with representative of former President of Kurdistan Region of Iraq Masoud Barzani
ERBIL — In light of the recent violations that took place in the Nahla region in Iraq, including the checkpoints that prevented the residents from entering their area, Archbishop of Hadiab Archdiocese of the Ancient Church of the East Mor Shimun Daniel met with his accompanying delegation, the representative of former President Masoud Barzani, Shimal al-Zebari, as well as security and military leaders in Aqra district.
During the comprehensive meeting, both delegations discussed the challenges faced in the Nahla Region. Archbishop Daniel passionately conveyed the plight of the region’s residents, highlighting its significance as an integral part of the social diversity of the KRI and emphasizing the rights and duties of its inhabitants.
Representative al-Zebari addressed the recent incident, emphasizing that it was an isolated act by certain checkpoint personnel and does not represent the genuine appreciation and affection the KRI government holds for Christians.
The two parties agreed on an action plan aimed at protecting the Nahla Region and its people, serving them, granting them freedom of movement without restrictions, and preventing the recurrence of such incidents against the Christians of the region.
