Syriac Cross and Stichting Schlomo distribute water to Hasakah, Syria, residents due to Turkey’s policy of water deprivation
HASAKAH, Syria — For a prolonged period, Turkey has blocked the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, disrupting the flow into Syrian territory and exacerbating the challenges faced by the people of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
With the arrival of summer and the harsh economic conditions in Hasakah, the Syriac Cross for Relief and Development, along with Dutch non-profit Stichting Schlomo, have stepped up efforts to provide water to those affected in the city.
Both organizations have been actively distributing water to families in need across Hasakah, aiming to alleviate the pressure on the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community.
Beyond water distribution, the organizations are dedicated to implementing various relief projects in the region, extending support to those impacted by the earthquake that struck both Turkey and Syria last February.
Due to the lack of drinking water in #Hassakeh in NE Syria we could now distribute clean water to the people in the region thanks to your contributions. #syria #hsija #hassake #الحسكة #aid #emergency #supplies #water #السوريا pic.twitter.com/YmGwnP5lDx
