Turkish opposition leader Kılıçdaroğlu criticizes President Erdogan’s economic policies
ANKARA — In the aftermath of the economic collapse in Turkey and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s visits to Arab Gulf countries, opposition leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu the leader delivered a scathing speech during his party’s weekly meeting, criticizing Erdoğan’s policies.
Drawing a striking analogy, Kılıçdaroğlu likened Erdoğan’s actions to that of the Roman Emperor Nero, who infamously set fire to Rome. He accused Erdoğan of “burning Turkey” through his policies and decisions.
One of the key points of criticism was directed towards the way Erdoğan’s government is handling the economy. Kılıçdaroğlu pointed out that the Turkish lira has lost public confidence, and the soaring fuel prices are putting an immense burden on citizens’ wallets. He went on to denounce the tax increases, which have further exacerbated the situation, as “economic theft”.
Kılıçdaroğlu highlighted the grave economic decline in Turkey, emphasizing the widespread suffering of people burdened by debts and financial crises. He expressed concern over a significant 63% increase in the implementation of judicial attachments on creditors.
The speech underscored the growing dissatisfaction with Erdoğan’s economic policies and their impact on the daily lives of ordinary citizens. The Turkish opposition continues to voice its concerns about the country’s economic challenges and seeks to address these pressing issues.
