Syriac Union Party and Conservative Party hold joint seminar on political solution in Syria
RAQQA, Syria — Emphasizing the crucial role of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people and Arab tribes in finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria, the Syriac Union Party (SUP) and Conservative Party conducted a joint seminar in the city of Raqqa, North and East Syria. The event brought together politicians, intellectuals, and representatives from civil society organizations to discuss the way forward.
In a statement following the seminar, SUP Co-Chair Sanarib Barsom said that it focused on various aspects to meet the demands of all Syrians concerning a political solution in the country, including the significant contributions of the Syriacs (Arameans–Assyrians–Chaldeans) and Arab tribes to the political resolution, emphasizing the role of all Syrian components. The seminar highlighted key principles on which any political solution in Syria should be built, including upholding the rights of all Syrian communities, promoting equality, and fostering genuine democracy.
Akram Mahshush, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Conservative Party, also touched upon crucial topics during the seminar, such as solution initiatives in Syria, the situation of Syrian refugees, and the pressing water issue in Hasakah Canton.
