NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — On Friday, ten years after the arrest of Syriac leader Saeed Malki, who always stressed the importance of youth, the Syriac Progressive Youth Union (SPYU) announced a campaign to collect signatures pressuring the Syrian regime to release Malki or reveal his fate. Malki was arrested by the security apparatus of the Syrian regime at Qamishli Airport on 12 August 2013.

The SPYU announced that their campaign began on Friday and will end on 12 November. The campaign will target all institutions, organizations, and people to demand the immediate release of Malki or the discloser of his fate.

During a sit-in, the SPYU delivered a statement in Syriac and Arabic stressing that the Syrian regimes abduction of Malki is a violation of international human rights laws.
