Shabaks group held a wrongful protest against Mayor of Baghdede, Iraq

BAGHDEDE, Iraq — After eliminating their narrow interests, based on corruption, chaos and injustice, by Mayor of Baghdede Issam Behnam Matti Daabul, a group of Shabaks (Şebek) held a wrongful protest on Friday, demanding Daabul dismissal, in order to destabilize the Nineveh Plain, which is the original homeland of Chaldean- Syriac-Assyrian people in Iraq.

The Mayor of Baghdede is known for his Justice and consideration of all ethnic components in Baghdede. This is proven by all residents and dignitaries in Baghdede.

He has received the title of “First Mayor” in Nineveh Governorate by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani. He is also known for countering transgressions and exploitation.

The Iraqi constitution guarantees the right to protest. However, wrongful protests for individual illegal goals are a subversive act.

Therefore, we call on Al-Sudani to open an urgent investigation into the wrongful protest to prevent sedition and show the truth.

We also demand establishing an investigative committee for the demographic change happening in the areas of presence of the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people in the Nineveh Plain to remove the accumulated injustice on this people.

We also condemn all attempts to annihilate Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people, and call on the Iraqi Parliament, Prime Minister and Iraqi President to protect the historical areas of Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people, under the umbrella of Iraq.
