Syriac youth assaulted by university students in Hmoth, Syria, dies
HMOTH, Syria — Murad Barsom, a Syriac man from Zalin (Qamishli), North and East Syria, was killed after being assaulted by several students of the Private University of Al-Hawash, in the town of Al-Mazina, located in Wadi al-Nasara (Valley of the Christians) in the countryside of Hmoth (Homs), Syria.
Murad was severely beaten by students who are not residents of Wadi al-Nasara, following a problem that occurred in the Al-Mazina town.
The university administration issued a statement announcing the suspension of work at the university until the identity of those responsible is uncovered.
Murad was 33 years old. He was married and is the father of a small girl.
The motives for the murder were not known yet.
