European Syriac Union congratulates priest Daniel Gok for receiving the Holy Cross
GUTERSLOH, Germany— In appreciation of his 10-year priestly service, Father Daniel Gok, priest of Syriac Orthodox Church of Mary Virgin in Gutersloh, Germany received the Holy Cross by the Patriarchal Vicar of Germany Archdiocese Archbishop Mor Philoxenus Mattias Nayis.
A delegation from the European Syriac Union (ESU) paid a congratulatory visit to the priest, at his residence in Gutersloh. Head of the Church Local Council Nuri Akbaba was also present.
After that, the Syriac leader Saeed Malki, who has been arrested so far by the Syrian regime, was recalled.
Then, the situation of Syriac (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian) people at the national and ecclesiastical levels was highlighted. The efforts of the Bethnahrain National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) and its struggle to obtain the national rights of Syriac people in Bethnahrin (Mesopotamia) were touched on.
The ESU delegation presented a book for the priest about history of Syriac people.
Father Gok is married to daughter of Khuroyo Abrohom Gok, who is known for his love for national struggle work.
Syriac Orthodox Church of Mary Virgin in Gutersloh is open to all institutions of Syriac people, without discrimination, to activate national and cultural activities.
