Turkish drone targets journalists in North and East Syria

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — A Turkish drone attacked a vehicle along the road connecting Amuda and Zalin (Qamishli) in North and East Syria carrying female journalists affiliated with JinTV on Wednesday, killing an employee named Necimedin Feysel Hec Sînan and injuring a journalist, according to officials of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).

AANES strongly condemned the attack and urged the international community and relevant parties to intervene and halt the continuing atrocities committed by Turkey in the region.

Turkey’s ongoing series of attacks in North and East Syria, in clear defiance of international norms and the United Nations, has led to numerous civilian and military casualties. Turkey’s deliberate targeting of journalists underscores its campaign to silence the truth surrounding its ongoing campaign of aggression.

The Turkish occupation persistently carries out airstrikes across North and East Syria, indiscriminately targeting both civilians and military personnel.

According to the Rojava Information Center (RIC), this is the 49th Turkish drone strike in the region this year. According to its data, 23 drone attacks have targeted vehicles, 64 people — 15 civilians and 49 military personnel — have been killed, and 53 people injured — 17 civilians, including 3 children, and 36 military personnel.
