Tribal leaders in Tel Tamr, North and East Syria, rally behind Syrian Democratic Forces amidst security operation in Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor)
TEL TAMR, Syria — As the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) operation “Enhancing Security” aimed at quelling unrest and addressing disruptive elements in Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor) continues, prominent sheikhs and community leaders from tribes in and around Tel Tamr have affirmed their unwavering support for the SDF. They issued a call to steer clear of division and strife among the region’s diverse components.
This declaration was made during a gathering convened by the Tel Tamr District Council at the Martyrs’ Families Council Garden. The meeting, organized in collaboration with the Public Relations Office of the Tel Tamr Military Council, was convened to deliberate the recent developments in Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor).
Speakers at the meeting highlighted the destabilizing roles played by Turkish-backed groups and Iranian militias in the region. They also lauded the SDF and hailed the sacrifices of their martyrs, who have played a pivotal role in safeguarding the region and its inhabitants.
Participants in the meeting emphasized the paramount importance of the values of coexistence and inter-ethnic solidarity in North and East Syria, underscoring the necessity of exercising caution regarding unfounded rumors circulating about the SDF aimed at sowing discord among various constituents.
During the meeting, the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) continued their artillery bombardment of the villages around Tel Tamr and Abu Rasayn (Zarkan). The barrage resulted in significant material damage to civilian properties and residences, with fires breaking out in some agricultural areas.
