Syrian Democratic Forces announce end of security operation in Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor), Syria

DAYRO ZCURO, Syria — The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) of North and East Syria announced the end of the basic military operations in Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor), with the continuation of specific security operations in order to maintain security and stability.

The SDF Media Center stated that the stages of Operation Security Enhancement in Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor) began by pursuing the remnants of the Islamic State (ISIS), drug dealers, smugglers, and outlaw criminals.

The statement then revealed the exploitation of the Turkish and Syrian regimes to cause tribal strife in the region and undermine the brotherhood between the ethnic components of democratic Syria.

The SDF foiled the hostile plan and established security in the Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor) countryside. Everything happened with communication between the SDF and people of the region. The military operations left 25 militants dead, 25 SDF martyrs, 9 civilians injured by gunfire and the arrest of ISIS and National Defense members,” read the SDF statement.

The statement indicated that, in conjunction with the SDF operation, the Turkish forces launched continuous attacks on Mabbug (Manbij), Ayn Issa, Tel Abyad, Tel Tamr and Zarkan. All the SDF military formations confronted those attacks, and inflicted heavy losses on their ranks.

The statement concluded by thanking the people and community leaders in Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor) for standing united with the SDF in fighting strife.

In related level, the SDF arrested official of the Tribal Office and emir of the Islamic Bank of ISIS in Raqqa, called Abdul Ghafour Tabar al-Dhiyab, nicknamed Abu Amir, who was active in financing ISIS cells to carry out terrorist operations in the region, in addition to providing them with weapons and equipment.

The arrest took place in a joint security operation between the SDF, the U.S.-led International Coalition, and the Counter-Terrorism Service in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), according to a statement published by the SDF Media Center.
