Syriac Studies Directorate participates in workshop to empower women in leadership roles in Iraq

BAGHDAD — The General Directorate of Syriac Studies in Iraq announced its involvement in a workshop dedicated to promoting women’s leadership roles in government. The workshop, featuring Mrs. Anne Andrews, Assistant Director General of the Directorate of Syriac Studies, commenced on Monday morning in Baghdad.

The event was organized at the behest of the Women’s Empowerment Department within the Iraqi Ministry of Education’s General Directorate of Educational Planning. This initiative was conducted in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and was attended by representatives from various educational directorates.

Dr. Sundos Abbas, a seasoned trainer, delivered an informative lecture during the workshop. She delved into the concept of leadership, expounding on the various scientific theories pertaining to leadership and its manifestation. Dr. Abbas also emphasized the distinctive leadership qualities possessed by women.

This workshop aligns with the national strategic objectives established for Iraqi women by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers. It is designed to support women in their pursuit of high-level administrative positions and active involvement in decision-making processes, contributing to the advancement of gender equality and empowerment in Iraq.
