Turkey and its proxies intensify attacks on Tel Tamr, causing civilian casualties
TEL TAMR, Syria — In an escalation of hostilities, the Turkish forces occupying northern Syria and their Syrian National Army (SNA) proxies have intensified their targeting of the villages around Tel Tamr, North and East Syria. The increased attacks encompassed a range of heavy weaponry and included numerous drone strikes.
During the recent upsurge in violence, Turkey and the SNA conducted eight drone strikes and fired over 300 artillery shells at the villages of Tel Tamr. The bombardment resulted in the injury of six civilians and the deaths of five Syrian regime military personnel.
This latest wave of violence commenced at the start of August, with Turkey singling out villages located along the contact lines of the SNA and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Tel Tamr. Subsequent to these attacks, fierce confrontations erupted between the forces of the Tel Tamr Military Council and the SNA. The attacking SNA groups reportedly sustained significant casualties, 25 confirmed fatalities and 20 wounded, forcing them to retreat.
The intensity of these attacks marks them as the most severe witnessed this year, underscoring the dire situation faced by the affected communities.
