Syriac Union Party organizes solidarity event in Dayrik, North and East Syria, for victims of fire in Baghdede, Iraq
DAYRIK, Syria — The Syriac Union Party (SUP), together with Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) Church institutions, organized a solidarity event in Dayrik (Al-Malikiyah / Derik), North and East Syria, to express the communities unwavering support for the families affected by the devastating wedding hall fire in the Nineveh Plains town of Baghdede (Qaraqosh / Hamdaniya) that left over 100 people dead.
The gathering commenced with a solemn prayer for the comfort of the victims, marked by the ringing of church bells throughout the city for a full minute as a tribute to the souls of those tragically lost.
Participants, including members of Sutoro (Internal Syriac Security Forces) and Sutoro Women, carried banners adorned with expressions of solidarity for the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people in Iraq.
The demonstration, a heartfelt symbol of empathy and communal strength, aimed to convey the depth of compassion and support for the grieving families in the wake of this profound tragedy.
