Australian Senator David Shoebridge denounces Turkish attacks on North and East Syria
CANBERRA — In a public statement, Australian Senator David Shoebridge (Greens) condemned Turkey’s ongoing campaign of airstrikes targeting vital civilian infrastructure and security personnel in North and East Syria. He called upon the international community to hold Turkey accountable for its aggressive actions, emphasizing that these attacks represent a severe violation of human rights.
Shoebridge underscored that the Turkey’s aggression against the peoples residing in North and East Syria will not go unanswered. He urged Turkey to immediately cease its attacks on civilians and infrastructure.
Founder and President of the Lebanese National Coalition Youssef Shams also voiced condemnation for Turkey’s attacks. In a letter addressed to the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) through its representation in Lebanon, Shams appealed to international decision makers and forces of liberation to denounce the attacks.
In a parallel effort, the Social Diplomacy Platform of North and East Syria launched a campaign gathering signatures from various human rights institutions and organizations in Arab and foreign countries. The collected signatures will be submitted to the United Nations, the International Court of Justice, and relevant organizations to prompt immediate measures and actions to end Turkey’s campaign of violence.
