Funeral for several victims of Baghdede wedding hall fire announced, Syriac Catholic Archdiocese offers psychological support
BAGHDEDE, Iraq — The Syriac Catholic Archdiocese of Mosul has announced the funeral for a new group of victims of the wedding hall fire in Baghdede (Qaraqosh / Hamdaniya).
Search and recovery teams persist in their efforts to locate the remains of those still missing since the fire. The Syriac Catholic Archdiocese of Mosul has confirmed the identification of 37 previously unidentified victims of the fire.
In an official statement, the Archdiocese verified that DNA analyses had successfully matched the victims with their respective families. The funeral proceedings are set for Friday, commencing at 3:30 PM, at the Al-Qiyami Cemetery.
A Mass and funeral prayer dedicated to the souls of those killed in the fire will be held on Saturday at the Al-Tahra Al-Kubra Cathedral. Condolences will be received on Saturday at the Mar Behnam and Sarah Church.
Additionally, the Psychological Support and Guidance Center of the Syriac Catholic Archdiocese of Mosul announced its commitment to providing psychological support and treatment to the families of the victims. Nine teams, comprising priests, specialists, and trainers, have been assembled to visit the homes of the victims. Their mission involves offering free consultations, training, and treatment to the grieving families.
