Administration of North and East Syria highlights devastating toll of Turkish bombing campaign
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The Foreign Relations Commission of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) held a press conference to address the impact of the Turkish bombardment campaign in North and East Syria.
Talaat Younes, Co-Chair of the Executive Council of Gozarto (Jazira) Region, delivered the statement during the press conference, emphasizing that Turkey utilized various weapons under false pretexts to target civilians, military personnel, and infrastructure in North and East Syria. The goal, said Younes, was to destabilize the security and stability of the region, hinder developmental efforts, and impede the security and military forces in their task of defending and protecting the region from the Islamic (ISIS).
The statement outlined the devastating impact of Turkish attacks, which targeted water, electricity, and oil facilities, hospitals, laboratories, schools, and military academies. It reported that the occupation conducted 560 airstrikes, affecting all cities from Dayrik (Al-Malikiyah / Derik) to Shahba, resulting in the martyrdom of 44 people and injuring 55 others, including civilians and children.
The statement emphasized the ongoing efforts to ensure the security and safety of the region’s residents, addressing challenges such as countering ISIS terrorism and reconstructing areas affected by extremists or Turkey. It called for holding the Turkish government accountable for its crimes against both the population and its targeting of vital civilian infrastructure. Speaking to Suroyo TV, Rubel Baho Deputy Co-Chair of the Foreign Relations Commission, reiterated condemnation of Turkish attacks. He urged international forums to take responsibility and intervene to prevent further aggressions.
